How to Buy It?

Pre-orders for the iPhone SE will begin on Friday, April 17 at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time and devices will begin arriving at customers on Friday, April 24. The iPhone SE is launching in the United States and more than 40 other countries and regions.

Design

Though named after the 2016 iPhone SE that shared a design with the iPhone 5, the 2020 iPhone SE is identical to the iPhone 8. It features a 4.7-inch display with thick bezels at the top and bottom of the device.

The top bezel features a cutout for the front-facing camera, speaker, and accompanying sensors, and at the bottom of the device, there's a Touch ID Home button covered in sapphire crystal.

Don't expect envelope-pushing specs and features at this price, but this is still a solid offering. Here's the specs sheet:

The standout inclusion there is clearly the A13 Bionic chip, which is state of the art in Apple Land and matches the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro (although it may be matched here with less RAM - something that Apple doesn't announce). The added power of the A13's neural engine should enable the seemingly unimpressive camera setup to produce excellent shots.

The 256GB storage option is also new, however: the iPhone 8 was available in 64 and 128GB flavors only.

Summary

In a word, iPhone SE 2 is an iPhone with nostalgic looks and good hardware. Though whether it looks cool is a debatable, its specs definitely worth the money. In particular, it's a great upgraded substitute for iPhone 8.
